The Stage Media – Liberia Celebrates Year of Impact, Reaffirms Commitment to Fact-Based Journalism
The Stage Media – Liberia (TSM), the country’s first verified fact-checking media institution, has marked the Christmas season by reflecting on a year of impactful journalism and renewed commitment to combating misinformation and disinformation.
Since its establishment in 2020, TSM has worked to verify public claims, hold power to account, and amplify untold stories, particularly within the security and justice sectors. In 2025 alone, the institution conducted over 100 fact-checks, produced investigative and human-interest stories, and released a documentary despite funding constraints.
The organization also expanded its reach by growing its WhatsApp tipline by more than 7,000 followers after it was 34 in 2025, maintaining partnerships with community radio stations, securing new funding, renewing its membership with the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), and supporting staff professional development.
TSM extends sincere appreciation to its partners, including IFCN, Africa Check, Meta, and our amazing followers, for their continued support.
Looking ahead, TSM plans to expand staff capacity, revive its fellowship program, increase community radio partnerships across additional counties, and diversify funding and revenue streams, but this can only be done with your support. Check our Donate Page to support our work.
Friends, as we turn our gaze toward the upcoming year, TSM’s team is energised by the potential for continued impact. We are committed to expanding our reach, deepening our partnerships, and leveraging technology to further empower communities across Liberia.
None of our achievements would be possible without the steadfast support of individuals and organizations who share our vision for a more inclusive and participatory society. Your contributions, whether through financial support, collaboration, or advocacy, play a pivotal role.
As we conclude 2025, let us carry the spirit of collaboration, empathy, and resilience into the new year. Together, we can amplify more voices, inspire civic action, and contribute to a future where every individual’s voice is not only heard but actively shapes the narrative through fact-checking and Media Literacy.
Additionally, TSM reaffirms its mission to uphold truth, accountability, and public interest journalism in Liberia.
