Representative Yarh did not invest US$ 17,910 in Driving Education

Verdict: False, US$ 17,910 was not invested in Driving Education

 

Full Text: Emmanuel O. Yarh, Margibi County District #4 Representative, during his annual (2024) Legislative Report,  claimed he used $17,910 to fund a youth and women empowerment initiative.

, on March 26, 2025, claimed the project was implemented in Larkay-Ta Township through technical and light-duty skills training programs, specifically (DRIVING) in partnership with K-TEC-LIBERIA.

He further claimed that the program enrolled 510 young individuals and successfully graduated 402.

 

Verification: To verify this claim, we contacted Churchill Cassell, Chief Executive Officer of K-TEC-Liberia. 

 

Cassell denied the claim of such financial figures placed in the lawmaker’s report, noting his institution received an amount of US$ 17,910 from Yarh as part of their partnership.

 

The K-TEC head told our Margibi County Fellow that since the partnership began between his institution and the representative office, he has not received such an amount.

 

Cassell expressed shock when he read in the report that his institution benefited from said amount to empower youth and women through driving education.

 

When Yarh was contacted for clarity, his political officer, Mohammed Kemokai, explained that the lawmaker and Cassell have been partners since 2023; as such, the lawmaker might have spent the money in question or even more.

In a Facebook post

We asked if there was a receipt of the funds, but Kemokai said there is no financial receipt evidence from either partner due to their closeness and the relationship they have had over the years.

In a radio appearance (7:10), supporters of  Yarh said the report was a way for the lawmaker to give updates to the district.    "KTEC is a good partner to the lawmaker;  there is a pending conversation and we may not go deep into the conversation but what I can say is that KTEC is collaborating with the representative office."

 

Conclusion: From our verification and Representative Yarh's office's failure to provide substantial evidence to their claim, we concluded that Representative Emmanuel O. Yarh's claim of investing US$ 17,910 to empower youth through driving skills is misleading.
