Claim: Drugs Enforcement Agency head Fitzgerald resigns post due to death threat

Full Text: On June 19, several social media users, including KMTV, a media outlet with over 461K followers, posted that the Officer-in-Charge of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Fitzgerald T.M. Biago, resigned from his position, citing serious security threats against himself and his family linked to ongoing narcotics investigations.
The post further states that Biago’s decision would take effect on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The circulation of the communication comes in the wake of the agency ongoing investigations into the seizure of narcotics valued at more than US$19 million at the Roberts International Airport.
“Biago stated that the investigations exposed criminal networks with deep connections within society, resulting in escalating threats against his life and the safety of his family,"the circulated communication stated.

A communication to debunk the claim was shared on Facebook by the LDEA.
The agency said it unequivocally rejects and condemns the false, malicious, and reckless reports circulating on social media alleging that DCP Fitzgerald T. M. Biago, Officer-in-Charge of the LDEA, is contemplating resignation due to pressure arising from ongoing investigations.”
According to them, the claim is entirely baseless and without merit. At no time has the Officer-in-Charge expressed, discussed, or entertained any intention to resign.
Conclusion: Even though KMTV, a popular media outlet published and deleted the circulated claim, it is a fact that the claim that the LDEA officer in charge has resigned is misleading.
