FULL TEXT: On September 30, 2025, Alvin Wesseh, Vice Chair for Operations of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Youth League, made a startling allegation during a live media engagement at the CDC's temporary headquarters.
In his remarks during the press conference, Wesseh claimed that "Deputy Minister Cornelia Kruah has dispatched US$250,000 for mobilization to welcome President Boakai."
The video, posted by KMTV Liberia, quickly went viral, generating over 34,000 views, more than 200 reactions, over 200 comments, and 20 shares at the time of publication.
Verification: To verify this claim, we reached out to the key officials mentioned and others who would have direct knowledge of such a financial disbursement.
We contacted Cornelia Kruah, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of State of the Republic of Liberia, via WhatsApp. She categorically denied the allegation. "The story is obviously false," Kruah said in our WhatsApp conversation.
We also contacted Whroway Bryant, Superintendent of Montserrado County, who would be a primary recipient of such funds for mobilization purposes. He firmly refuted the claim. "I know nothing about US$250,000. I have received nothing as a county authority to mobilize anybody for the President's return. There is nothing," Superintendent Bryant told us during a WhatsApp call.
He further challenged the accusers: "We just challenge those who are sending out the accusations to support their accusations with facts."
We contacted Wesseh via Facebook Messenger, requesting comment on his claim in light of the denials from Kruah and Superintendent Bryant. As of publication, he has not responded. This story will be updated if and when he provides a response.
