Full Text: On October 12, 2025, Damaro claimed on Facebook that Sam Gaye, Director of the Executive Protection Service (EPS), had been sacked.
The post quickly gained traction on Facebook, attracting over 1,000 reactions, 1,000 comments, and 38 shares as of the time of this fact-check.
Shortly after taking office in January 2024, President Joseph N. Boakai nominated Sam Gaye as the director of the service.
The Executive Protection Service (EPS) is legally responsible for protecting the President, Vice President, their families, designated officials, visiting dignitaries, and other VIPs. Verification: To verify the claim, The Stage Media (TSM) reviewed the official Facebook page of Kula V. Fofana, presidential press secretary. Fofana clarified that Gaye has neither been dismissed nor suspended, contrary to circulating rumors. She described the social media claims as "entirely false and should be ignored as fake news."
Additionally, TSM reached out to Sam Gaye via WhatsApp. He referenced the statement by Fofana's post and reaffirmed that he remains in his position. Gaye also advised that Damaro be contacted for further clarification regarding the origin of the claim.
