Verdict: Correct. After eight years, the Margibi County Police received a patrol pickup.

Full Text: News Public Trust, an online media institution, in its March 26, 2025, publication, claimed that Margibi County got a new police vehicle after 8 years.

The paper claimed that the county police detachment has struggled for eight years without a patrol vehicle, thus making the operation of the police difficult.

The claim was made when the Liberia National Police, through IG Gregory Coleman, hand-delivered a used Patrol pickup to the Margibi County Police Detachment, a gesture that was hugely appreciated by Margibi County Police Commander ACP Patrick Kormazu.

Verification: To authenticate this claim, we contacted ex-Margibi County police commander Col. Sylvester Hena.

He confirmed that in 2018, Kakata police detachment's only patrol vehicle got damaged, and since then, the county security sector has consistently pleaded for assistance.

“We asked the previous administration to assist in easing the operational challenges, but that was unsuccessful.”

Our fact-check team found out that FrontPage Africa's official Facebook page and Shine Liberia were used to do an SOS call to raise money, but the issue about mobility was not settled.
